As a paper love, I also love typography. Beautiful handwriting jumps off of the page and makes planners, scrapbooks and cards come to life. I’ve spent a lot of time learning the craft of hand lettering and I practice it everyday.

I know I bring it up a lot but I love Skillshare. There are lots of learning communities out there and even crafty learning communities but Skillshare is my favorite. Everyone I have dealt with is so nice and I can learn so much more than just crafts. I have taken business classes, design classes, art classes and craft classes.

I can’t say enough positive things about Skillshare and the platform. If you haven’t tried out any of their classes yet, I highly encourage you to check them out. You can learn some awesome things and try out the platform.

Last month I made a post about how I turned my hand lettering hobby into a money making business. So today I thought I would share some of my favorite hand lettering classes on Skillshare.

Since I make a little bit of cash doing lettering for others, I get a lot of practice. I have tried dabbled with all kinds of mediums over the last two years. Modern dip calligraphy, brush pens and watercolor lettering are just a few of my favorites techniques.

The classes I picked cover a lot and are good for beginners to intermediate hand letterers. One of the great things about the Skillshare format is each class is broken down into sections. So you can skip sections that you already know.

This class is great because Peggy teaches it just using a thin line pen, no need for a brush marker. She goes through each letter and explains how to form each one and how to connect them.

A fantastic class for the absolute beginner. This class goes through all of the supplies needed and starts out with some practice. This class is great for practicing each letter.

Tons of information in this class. If you are comfortable with a brush pen this is a great glass. I really loved the section on writing san serif letters with a brush pen.

If you love fountain pen or dip pen calligraphy this is the class to learn it. This is how I first started learning calligraphy and hand lettering. The dip pen is no easy task to master but it is a beautiful skill to have.

I learned so many techniques for watercolor lettering in this class. Teela flawlessly covers blending and gradients and makes them easy to learn and practice. If you love watercolors this class is a must take.

This is a more advanced class that goes through how to take all of the lettering techniques you’ve learned and put it together in a beautiful and balanced composition.
