I have always stressed out about making cards for men. They just do not like the same glitter and butterflies look that I do. It is best when making a card for a man to keep it simple and use neutral brown, blue and green colors. I have also made several steam punk cards for guys and had those go over very well but I wanted to make a gentleman card.

I was working on this birthday card for my boyfriends father. I used plain kraft paper for the base and a kraft envelope. I knew I wanted to add a mustache to it because what could be more manly than that. As I was trying to decide how I wanted to incorporate the mustache my boyfriend walks in and says, “like a sir” which is an internet meme he really likes. That’s when I got the idea to make a gentleman’s card. This great man card features a bow-tie, top hat wearing, mustache bearing gentleman with old fashioned style!

Isn’t he just adorable? I cut all of the pieces out with a die cut machine. For his monocle I covered the piece in ultra thick embossing enamel to give it a glazed, glassy look. The title, “like a sir”, comes from the internet meme. My boyfriend wanted it to say that although I would have been much happier with a birthday sentiment. I love the simplicity of this card and I am sure the recipient will feel the same.

I am of course making the file free for download. The ZIP file contains both an SVG and a PDF if you prefer to print and cut. Hopefully you all will making your own gentleman cards soon.

Free SVG Download
